You will have to meet the requirement from the OIIQ (ordre des infirmiers et infirmières du Québec) You can go and visit their website www.oiiq.org They will probably require you to pass their exam. Also you will notice that the website is almost only in French. The reason is simple, to be receive as a nurse in Québec you need to know a functional level of french. You will have to pass a french exam also. Remember that 85% of Québec's population as french as first language so you need to be able to take care of them in their language... If you meet those requirement, we will be really happy to greet you here because we are in big need of comptetent nurses ! Bonne chance

To become a nurse in Quebec, you would have to join the OIIQ (the professional order for nurses). When you contact the OIIQ to start qualification procedures to practise nursing in Quebec, you must also start immigration procedures with the federal and Quebec governments to get permission to work in Quebec (which includes getting a work permit). Once you have done this you have to establish a file to begin the equivalence recognition process. The OIIQ Admission by Equivalence Committee will determine how the combination of your qualifications and experience correspond with the standards in Quebec, and may request that you get additional training. You will then have to complete the professional integration program. After this you may practise as a Candidate for the Profession of Nursing, and then complete the professional examination. Following this, you will need to obtain a permanent permit after satisfying the French-language proficiency requirements and criminal records checks. Once you have your permit, you have to register with the OIIQ and pay an assessment fee.

Can I get a practical nursing degree and be a neonatal nurse? (in Canada)

Can I get a practical nursing degree and be a neonatal nurse? (in Canada)?
I want to become a neonatal nurse. I was wondering if it is possible to get a practical nursing degree (the 2 year degree, as opposed to the 4 years bachelor degree for registered nurse) and still be a neonatal nurse. Then, what would the necessary steps be to make this happen? Thanks!

I am getting my nursing degree in Canada, but I a planning to live and work in the United states?
Would it be better for me to write my SATs and spend more money to go to university in the USA, or get my degree in Canada and somehow transfer it to the US (Oklahoma or Texas)?
