If you work in Canada, I assume you would be moving back there- in that case- you are not living in the USA and I would think you would lose your green card. Call USICS to know for sure.
2 :
Canada is a different Country - you'll need a Canadian work permit, a US one is of no use there.

Unless you are a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant, which is the same as a permanent resident in the U.S. then you will have obstacles immigrating/practicing nursing in Canada. If you are serious then you need to contact an attorney who specializes in Canadian immigration. Though technically you can live abroad for up to a year without first filing a re-entry permit application, the law is a little sketchy. You cannot establish residency anywhere outside the U.S. or you will void your green card. What constitutes establishing residency could be subject to interpretation by USCIS officials.

If you're an R.N, or a Nurse Practitioner (graduated and licensed in the US), can you emigrate and work in Canada?

The following is a blurb off of MSM news today - online. She just gave birth to 4 identical girls in the USA (Great Falls, MT): ........ " Karen Jepp had her girls in Montana because Foothills Medical Centre NICU in Calgary was over-capacity. It's a recurring problem for the booming city -- this year, at least five women have been sent to Benefis to give birth. There are 89 neonatal beds in Calgary. The city's Health Region has the budget for more, but would still need additional staff to watch over them. And officials said they've had a difficult time hiring more doctors and nurses. " .....so there you have it - just 1 example of the demand for nurses in Canada.

You need to have your education and credentials assessed to assure that you can get an RN license in Canada then find a job, get a sound job offer, and have your employer apply for a work visa for you to come to Canada. It is not uncommon for a persons certification and education in another country to not measure up to what is required in Canada for the same license, degreee etc. With the exception of Quebec, baccalaureate education is now the requirement across the country for entry to a registered nursing career. You didnt say where in Canada, but if it Regina you will like it there, altho winters are very cold, the people in SK are IMO very friendly and welcoming to new comers. There is a great arts and entertainment scene and lots to do there in your spare time - Be sure and check out a pub/restaurant called "The Free House" and no the drinks and food arent free but its a great non-threatening, friendly laid back place to initially meet some people. Goodluck !!

Each province sets its own regulations. You are unlikely to be allowed to practice as a nurse while in Canada on a student visa. You can try to immigrate to Canada, but you will compete with hundreds of thousands of other Indian immigration applicants. Your Indian degree will probably not be recognized for licensing purposes.
2 :
No, you have to get licened here.
