it is recognized, but i believe you may have to pass a board exam.

Your degree is recognized anywhere. To seek employment in another country, it is to your advantage if you are already an RN in the Philippines. For Canada, here's an overview of the requirements. Good luck. http://www.medhunters.com/articles/licensingNursingCanada.html

Your nursing education is recognized but you will have to pass the CRNE and possibly take an oral proficiency test in English and/or French. For your information, several Filipino nurses came to the Canadian North a few years ago to work as nurses but they had to take the CRNE. There is a tremendous need for nurses in the Canadian North (Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon) and the salary and benefit package is much better than in the other southern provinces. However, only a few of them were actually able to pass the test and keep their jobs. Those who didn't pass had to go back to the Philippines, which is a disappointment. I would recommend that you study hard before deciding to apply, especially on your oral and written English. If you are interested in nursing in the Northwest Territories, contact me and I can find more information for you. Incidentally, the Filipino community is the largest overseas community here and except for the weather, you will feel right at home.

More than likely, no. Unfortunately. You'd need at least another diploma, degree or other type of course work to upgrade your skills.

Im an English nurse, emigrating to Canada...which city should i choose, Tor or Vanc?
Would like warm summers and snowy winters. Love cafe culture, house music, clubbing and staying out late! Would have £100 000 to invest in property and I presume a job in critical care nursing would be secured before I leave Blighty.

How about Calgary? We need nurses as we are in the middle of a boom. You definately get snowy winters here and warm summers, plus you can see the Rocky Mountains which are only an hour away to the west. Vancouver does not usually have snowy winters, although this year they are going through some horrible weather. Because they are seaside, they have a great deal of problems when it snows. Vancouver is beautiful though, Toronto didn't impress me much. I think Calgary is the place to be!
