I am a registerd nurse in USA with greencard. Is it possible to work as RN in canada with the current licence?

If you work in Canada, I assume you would be moving back there- in that case- you are not living in the USA and I would think you would lose your green card. Call USICS to know for sure.

Canada is a different Country - you'll need a Canadian work permit, a US one is of no use there.

Unless you are a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant, which is the same as a permanent resident in the U.S. then you will have obstacles immigrating/practicing nursing in Canada. If you are serious then you need to contact an attorney who specializes in Canadian immigration. Though technically you can live abroad for up to a year without first filing a re-entry permit application, the law is a little sketchy. You cannot establish residency anywhere outside the U.S. or you will void your green card. What constitutes establishing residency could be subject to interpretation by USCIS officials.
