The biggest difference between Canada and the UK? TREES! Having lived in both the UK and Canada (where I live now) I can say that while there are a lot of similarities there are also a number of differences. First off, it's cheaper to live in Canada for the most part. Places like Vancouver can be very pricey, but most of Canada is pretty affordable. Houses are roughly half the cost of those in the UK. Petrol is half the price you're paying in the UK. A downside to Canada is that it can be too darn big. If you don't live in major city like Toronto or Montreal and you like to see big name concerts you're going to have to drive for hours, or fly, just to get to the venue. It's generally much colder in Canada in the winter, but our summers tend to be a bit hotter than in the UK. You have midges, we have mosquitoes and horse flies. You kinda get used to them after a while :) The cultures can be pretty different in several ways, but nothing that would shock you too much. We love beer, but so do the Brits :) We bbq a LOT, you not so much. I love both countries and I think it would be a great experience for you to work here, at least for a while.
